Character Study

Character Study

After studying my friend for several weeks, I have figured out that my friend can be a lot of different personalities. When she is around the right people, she can talk your ears off. However, if she is not around people she knows, she will not talk as much. I find this interesting because for some people, she is very extroverted, but for other people she is not and gets very introverted. This actually relates to me a lot. I know that if I know somebody, I will talk to them a lot.

One of the crazy things about my friend is we are actually a lot alike in our personalities. We are both mainly Introverts. The next thing that I notice was that she was a lot like me as well on the Sensing/Intuition personality side of things. When I took my test, I came out to be a Sensing personality. Sensing is where you mainly focus on the things in the present. Whereas, Intuition is focusing on things in the future. People with the Sensing personality tend to just go with the flow and not have very many set in stone plans. They might plan a little bit, but not every single second of the trip. However, people with the Intuition side will have a more thought out plan and will want to follow the plan every second of the way. I believe my friend is on the Sensing side.

One of the harder things to figure out was the Thinking/Feeling personality. Personally I am on the Thinking side. People on the Thinking side tend have more stronger feelings for justice than people you are on the Feeling side. They look at their objectives with logic and search for truth and everything they do. They are very task-oriented rather than being people-oriented like the people on the feeling side. I honestly think my friend is on the Thinking side.

While all these personality traits are up here, we still have two more that my friend could be. This one was also pretty difficult to determine. While we all know it is not nice to judge, Judging is one the next personality traits, along with Perceiving. However, Judging is not so much about judging other people. This trait involves decision making and being organized. They also like to be in control and have everything planned. They focus mainly on the events now rather than the future. People who are in the Perceiving side, like to have multiple options and are not very organized. While the Judging side likes to plan and be in control, the Perceiving side likes to go with the flow and be flexible. They also take things in by what they have experienced. They also tend to focus on things later than now. I think that my friend is on the Judging side.

After finishing with my few weeks of studying, I asked my friend to take the test I took and here are the results.

As you can see, some of the traits are easier to spot than others.

Personality

Personality:

What is personality? Why is it so important in today's world?

Personality determines what you are and how you will act in certain situations. We have been able to possibly discover what your personality may be by making some tests that can help you figure out your personality. These tests can be all over the internet, ranging from very short tests to very long tests. These tests can vary by form. Some can be asking you what you would do in a certain situations, and some can ask you what you think about certain things.

I used one that asked me what I would do in certain situations. One of the questions was "You usually place yourself nearer to the side than in the center of the room." My answer to this was yes because I typically do not like to talk unless I know you. This answer was one of the answers that gave me an Introvert personality. Typically these questions ask something and then have "YES, yes, uncertain, no, NO" answer choices. Based on what you answer in each question, will determine what personality you are.

After taking the test, I discovered that I am an ISTJ. This means that my personality types are Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. I honestly agree with this. I can be very talkative if I know you, but if you are someone I do not know I probably will not talk to you unless you came up to me. The sensing part I think is accurate as well. I do think a lot about some things, especially current event type stuff. I can see how judging can be one of my personalities. I try not to judge, but you know, it is not as easy as you would like it to be.

Nature and Nurture Debate

Nature and Nurture Debate

The debate on the nature and nurture effects will always be up for discussion. Some of the main examples used in these debate are dogs, humans, and well just animals all together.

Nature is the genes that the object that you are studying have.

Nurture is how the object was raised and the environment that it was raised in.

We go in and study if one breed of dog is going to effect a different breed of dog if they are going to be raised. Like if a pit bull(aggressive) raised a golden retriever(not aggressive). What is going to happen? Will the golden retriever take on its aggressiveness from the pit bull parents? Or will it stick to its natural habits and not be aggressive? Many people will say that it will take on the aggressive because that is what they see everyday. However, I believe that even if they see it everyday they will not turn. They will still not be aggressive like the pit bulls.

How about humans? Will a kid coming from parents that are tall raised by short parents become short? Will this kid stay small? Or will he get tall like his biological parents? To be honest, I think the kid will continue to grow tall like his biological parents. However, there are some habits that the kid might get from having small parents.

Now lets take a pack of wolves raising a German shepherd. Obviously the wolves are going to influence the German shepherd. They are so similar that the German shepherd will probably not even notice that they are wolves. This test goes right along with the nurture side. However, the German shepherd already has some features and characteristics that the wolves have.

Kids who tend to have overweight parents tend to become overweight as well. This goes exactly with the nurture side. These kids will see their parents eating a lot so they do the same and try to match their parents food intake.

Personality is often on the table for this nature and nurture debate. My take on this is that it is both. How your parents act will influence on how you are going to act and respond to certain events. However, it could just be your nature to act a certain way. You may respond to an event a totally different way than your parents. That is also learning and growing up throughout your life.

Most kids who bully have a background of violence and possibly abuse. This could also be caused by the kids nature. However, that is not the case most of the time. Kids grow up and do what they see. If they see their parents fighting, then the kid will probably start trying to fight other kids.

Everybodys' morals are different. You are raised by your parents to learn how you should think and go about life. This goes exactly with nurture. Over time you may start thinking different and coming up with your own morals, but till that happens you will probably follow what your parents think.

Kids who are raised going church will most of the time live their lives following God. This is caused by their parents showing their children the right way. You can influence your kids lives in so many different ways. Raise them right.

In conclusion, you never really know whether its nature or nurture. It really just depends on the parents, but at the same time who is being raised. Sometimes it may not even matter who is raising them. It might just be their nature to do something. You never know.

Reaction Time

This is my M2 Task Project

I talked about how reaction time is very important. This project was very difficult because I was not sure what I was gonna be able to do. However, I was able to figure it out.

Reaction time can be effected by a number of events. If you are cold then you will be slow at reacting. Even if you are hot you still can be really slow. If you are injured you probably won't react as fast as you normally would. All in all, when you react to events around you, your eyes receive the information which then sends it to your brain. Your brain then decides whether or not to react. If it decides to react, it will then send the information to react to your arms or legs so they can carry out the reaction.

Sensation & Perception

Sensation & Perception

There are so many things in the world that seem to trick us or confuse us. Some images, like the image to the right, can trick us into believing that the object is sitting right there. However, they might just be a paper printout.

People define sensation as a physical feeling or perception coming from an outside action. Sensation and Perception go hand and hand to each other. Whatever you may feel or sense, is your perception on what's going on. Perception is used everywhere and all the time. People who write books and articles tend to give a lot of perception into the story. They want the readers to be able to perceive what is happening in the story. Perception allows the reader to be able to follow along with the story and be right beside the main character. For example: The big yellow bumblebee flew by the pretty red rose. You more than likely went along in your head, seeing a bumblebee fly by a rose. Books that can do this for us are usually the ones that we will read more than once in our lives.

Everybody's perception is can be different. Just like everyone's thought process is different. People think they see one thing when the truth is that its the totally opposite thing that they thought. For example: the picture to the left. One person sees four blocks while the other person sees three. Which one is correct? They are technically both are correct because of how the lines form with each other. Illusions can cause people to really debate on what is real or not. This video has some really good illusions that will make our perception of things a little crazy. I have always been fascinated by illusions. I try to figure them out and see the illusions from both views. Like that one photo of the hourglass and the two faces, I have been able to figure it out and see both sides. Illusionists have always been a great event to go to and watch. There is actually a mentalist coming in a couple of weeks that I'm probably gonna go to.

The Brain

Brain Diseases

As most of you know, the brain is the most important part of the body. Some people think that the heart might be, but they are wrong. The brain runs everything that's in your body. Every cell, organ, and molecule takes their orders from the brain. The brain is what keeps your body running.
Sadly, there are diseases that can affect the brain. These diseases are very harmful and are very likely to take the victim's life. Anything that happens to the brain can be deadly.
Cancer, Alzheimer's, Autism, and Strokes are all major issues that could happen to the brain.
Cancer can be caused by literally anything. Most of the main symptoms of brain cancer are headaches, vomiting, double vision, along with many others. If you ever have symptoms, contact your doctor immediately. Brain Cancer can be detected by an MRI scan or a CAT scan. There re several ways to treat cancer, but some of the treatments may or may not help. Treatments include surgery to remove the cancer, radiation therapy, and laser surgery.
Alzheimer's disease is a very sad disease because this attacks the memory cells. The victims of this disease begins to lose memory and slowly start to forget everything. They will forget their loved ones, which is why you can see this disease is very sad. As the disease continues to progress, the victim will begin to forget how to do everyday things in their life like brushing their teeth or cooking food. Sadly, there are not very many treatments for this disease. This disease can be a slow progress which can make losing your loved ones even worse.
Autism is another major disease that affects the brain, but not as serious as the other diseases. This disease usually impairs the victim's ability to communicate. This would lead to struggling to have friends and having a good social life. Most of the victims, however, are young children who can be taught and figure out how to deal with the disease. Since this is possible, they could find friends and be able to live a regular life. There are a lot of different medications that are available for autism victims that are very effective.
Strokes are very deadly because they are caused by a rupture or blockage of an artery that supplies blood to the brain. These can lead to paralysis, memory loss, and vision loss. These events are scary and if you ever see someone who is having a stroke, call an ambulance immediately. When a person has a stroke, there are several rehab processes they will have to go through starting with physical therapy. Physical therapy will help the victim start walking again if they have not been paralyzed by the event. There are not very many treatments after a stroke.
As you can see, there are deadly and extremely harmful diseases that can effect the brain so always take caution in what you do. Your brain is the most important part of your body, so take good care of it.
