Sensation & Perception

Sensation & Perception

There are so many things in the world that seem to trick us or confuse us. Some images, like the image to the right, can trick us into believing that the object is sitting right there. However, they might just be a paper printout.

People define sensation as a physical feeling or perception coming from an outside action. Sensation and Perception go hand and hand to each other. Whatever you may feel or sense, is your perception on what's going on. Perception is used everywhere and all the time. People who write books and articles tend to give a lot of perception into the story. They want the readers to be able to perceive what is happening in the story. Perception allows the reader to be able to follow along with the story and be right beside the main character. For example: The big yellow bumblebee flew by the pretty red rose. You more than likely went along in your head, seeing a bumblebee fly by a rose. Books that can do this for us are usually the ones that we will read more than once in our lives.

Everybody's perception is can be different. Just like everyone's thought process is different. People think they see one thing when the truth is that its the totally opposite thing that they thought. For example: the picture to the left. One person sees four blocks while the other person sees three. Which one is correct? They are technically both are correct because of how the lines form with each other. Illusions can cause people to really debate on what is real or not. This video has some really good illusions that will make our perception of things a little crazy. I have always been fascinated by illusions. I try to figure them out and see the illusions from both views. Like that one photo of the hourglass and the two faces, I have been able to figure it out and see both sides. Illusionists have always been a great event to go to and watch. There is actually a mentalist coming in a couple of weeks that I'm probably gonna go to.

  1. Hey Zach, I really enjoyed reading this blog post! It really made me think! I would just say to go back and proofread your work a little. I just saw a few things, like extra words. But overall you did a great job! Also, I enjoyed watching the video that you have on here; it was quite interesting. Thanks for sharing it!

  2. Man, those optical illusions are crazy! It so weird that some of us see one thing while others see something else. I really enjoyed that video too. I remember when the thing with the dress was going around the internet. It was white and gold for me. What's funny though is that when I just watched this video, it look black and blue. I then rewound it and watched it again. That time it was white and gold! It was really weird.
