The debate on the nature and nurture effects will always be up for discussion. Some of the main examples used in these debate are dogs, humans, and well just animals all together.Nature is the genes that the object that you are studying have.
Nurture is how the object was raised and the environment that it was raised in.
We go in and study if one breed of dog is going to effect a different breed of dog if they are going to be raised. Like if a pit bull(aggressive) raised a golden retriever(not aggressive). What is going to happen? Will the golden retriever take on its aggressiveness from the pit bull parents? Or will it stick to its natural habits and not be aggressive? Many people will say that it will take on the aggressive because that is what they see everyday. However, I believe that even if they see it everyday they will not turn. They will still not be aggressive like the pit bulls.
Now lets take a pack of wolves raising a German shepherd. Obviously the wolves are going to influence the German shepherd. They are so similar that the German shepherd will probably not even notice that they are wolves. This test goes right along with the nurture side. However, the German shepherd already has some features and characteristics that the wolves have.
Personality is often on the table for this nature and nurture debate. My take on this is that it is both. How your parents act will influence on how you are going to act and respond to certain events. However, it could just be your nature to act a certain way. You may respond to an event a totally different way than your parents. That is also learning and growing up throughout your life.
Most kids who bully have a background of violence and possibly abuse. This could also be caused by the kids nature. However, that is not the case most of the time. Kids grow up and do what they see. If they see their parents fighting, then the kid will probably start trying to fight other kids.
Everybodys' morals are different. You are raised by your parents to learn how you should think and go about life. This goes exactly with nurture. Over time you may start thinking different and coming up with your own morals, but till that happens you will probably follow what your parents think.
Kids who are raised going church will most of the time live their lives following God. This is caused by their parents showing their children the right way. You can influence your kids lives in so many different ways. Raise them right. In conclusion, you never really know whether its nature or nurture. It really just depends on the parents, but at the same time who is being raised. Sometimes it may not even matter who is raising them. It might just be their nature to do something. You never know.

Hey, Zach! Great post. You did a very good job at describing everything that you are saying. It was a very informative post!
ReplyDeleteI thought you did a great job on giving examples of each side of the debate, I think you could've gone into a little more detail on what the debate actually is and why it's important but i thought you were very informative. I liked your example on how kids take after their parents in life style especially when it comes to eating habits. Great job!
ReplyDeleteZach, I really enjoyed reading your views on the Nature vs. Nurture debate. I did my post over this topic as well and to look at things on a little better of a view, I was able to develop a better. Your examples were really broad but overall great post!
ReplyDeleteInteresting blog. I like how you didn't choose a side, how you explained that, in most circumstances, nature and nurture may both have a play in the reason why we turn out the way we are and do the things we do. I picked the nurture side, because I believe every decision and action we make is based upon experiences and your surroundings. You aren't automatically a good or a bad person. you have to become that way through how you are treated and what you experience. Really good pints though. The pictures were awesome.
